Career Development Programmes

Coaching Programmes for Managers
We have been designing and delivering high quality coaching programmes for the public sector since 2003.
These have proved to be a very cost effective way of introducing a coaching culture into the organisation or department whilst at the same time developing the professional skills of employees and managers. The programmes especially benefit the work of managers in service led-organisations with diverse client/staff groups.
Our 6 month Coaching programme for managers incorporates professional and career development and supports clients to move up or across the organisation. The programme develops clients confidence and skills in their abilities and can enhance intercultural competencies where appropiate. Coaching can also assist clients in finding new jobs outside the company. The coaching programmes can be customised and tailored to individual requirements and are usually commissioned from HR or Training and Development Departments.
We will work with a sponsor from within your organisation, to ensure that the program is connected to your companies learning and value systems. We will co-develop a selection process that fits your needs. The relevant stateholders manage the first part of the process – recruitment. once this is completed we will take charge and implement the program, which generally consists of;
- Group introduction and evaluation sessions
- Individual face-to-face sessions at the clients place of work or at the coaches office site
- Telephone coaching (optional)
- Working closely and liaising with the sponsor in regular meetings to up-date them on progress
These highly practical programmes focus on:
- creating short and long term goals
- development of professional skills and abilities
- a process for self-reflection on values and beliefs
- a forum for reviewing career progress to date and into the future
Examples of Recent Coaching Programmes:
The Westminster City Council Programme
In 2003 we began a series of popular coaching programmes for Westminster City Council, nearly five years on and the programme continues to go from strength to strength. Over 100 people have been through the programme and it continues to be a popular way for employees to develop professional competencies as well as progress further in their careers.
Oxfordshire Social and Health Care
From 2005 to 2007 a coaching programme ran for professional employees and managers within the Social and Health Care Directorate at Oxfordshire County Council. Similar to the Westminster programme the coaching was originally commissioned to support the employees through an organisational change programme and was used to help clients progress professionally as well as support some employees to find paths to different careers or to leave the organisation positively.
Barnet Council
A positive action programme began in Barnet in Autumn 2007. This was in response to requests from staff from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds to provide a programme that would help them take responsibility for their career progression, as well as an acknowledgement from senior managers that staff from bme backgrounds were not progressing into management positions.
