Sonya Welch-Moring

For over 15 years now, I have been self-employed - developing my business in order to live an abundant and successful life, both professionally and personally. I've learned a lot in the process!

I gained a BSc (Hons) and an MSc HRD before beginning my professional training as a coach. Since then I have completed two high profile and top quality training programmes:

The Professional Coaching Programme at the NLP Institute in California

followed by:

The European Coaching Certificate with International Teaching Seminars in London

I am a Master NLP Practitioner and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) accredited by the International Coach Federation(ICF)

In 2003 I was commissioned to design a BME Career and Professional Development Coaching Programme for Westminster City Council.

Its success led to the programme being opened to all staff and it ran until 2009 with over 110 staff completing the six-month programme. A similar model has been developed for other local authorites including Oxfordshire County Council and Barnet Council.

Professional Certified Coach

City of Westminster

"Sonya has worked for Westminster for a number of  years  offering a cohort based professional coaching program. She has demonstrated a consistently very high level of professionalism, characterised by acute skills and insights which have led to appreciable change for those who have worked with her. That she offers this with personal warmth is a great bonus. I would recommend her without reservation."

More than 1,000 coaching hours later and passionate about the power of coaching to facilitate career success,I have worked with a wide range of clients from different cultural backgrounds. Clients from BME backgrounds (Black and Minority Ethnic) are no different, they experience similar issues to other employees, but there are also additional challenges and obstacles to overcome.

I am currently coaching on the NHS Breaking Through Top Talent Programme for aspiring Chief Executive Officers from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, and am also a participating coach on the UNICEF New and Emerging Talent Initiative(NETI).

As the leading Career Development Coach and author for Diverse Professionals, I have had articles featured in the Coaching at Work magazine as well as other professional journals. My current coaching programmes are aimed at women who are going through a career transition, seeking a new direction or aiming to build and develop themselves professionally.
